Subject: Fwd: Doctoral Research Showcase Acceptance letter From: Thilina Gunarathne Date: Wed, 17 Aug 2011 07:44:58 -0400 To: gcf@indiana.edu, gcfexchange , "Qiu, Judy" Dear Prof.Fox, Judy, My submission to the SC11 doctoral symposium got accepted. Attached is the write-up I submitted. Please let me know your comments, so that I can modify it accordingly. thanks, Thilina "Architectures for Iterative Data Intensive Analysis Computations on Clouds and Heterogeneous Environments" Abstract "Iterative computations are at the core of the vast majority of data-intensive scientific computations. Recent advancements in data intensive computational fields are fueling a dramatic growth in number as well as usage of such data intensive iterative computations. The utility computing model introduced by cloud computing combined with the rich set of cloud infrastructure services offers a very viable environment for the scientists to perform data intensive computations. However, clouds by nature offer unique reliability and sustained performance challenges to large scale distributed computations necessitating computation frameworks specifically tailored for cloud characteristics to harness the power of clouds easily and effectively. My research focuses on identifying and developing user-friendly distributed parallel computation frameworks to facilitate the optimized efficient execution of iterative as well as non-iterative data-intensive computations in cloud environments, alongside the evaluation of heterogeneous cloud resources offering GPGPU resources in addition to CPU resources, for data-intensive iterative computations." ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: SC11 Submissions and Reviews Date: Tue, Aug 16, 2011 at 5:47 PM Subject: Doctoral Research Showcase Acceptance letter To: tgunarat@indiana.edu Dear Student, We are pleased to inform you that your submission for a Doctoral Research Showcase presentation on "Architectures for Iterative Data Intensive Analysis Computations on Clouds and Heterogeneous Environments" has been accepted for inclusion in the SC11 program. YOU MUST confirm within ONE WEEK that you will present at SC11. Do this at the submissions web site https://submissions.supercomputing.org/ . At the same time you should update all information related to your presentation, including your name and affiliation, the presentation title, and the 150-word abstract, because this information will go "live" on the public SC11 web site soon. Additionally, this information will appear "as is" in the conference printed program. THIS STEP IS REQUIRED EVEN IF THERE ARE NO CHANGES. PLEASE CHECK ALL your information carefully! Please ensure there are no special characters included that may have been imported, e.g., from an MS Word document. Please look at the reviews for your submission to see if the committee had any suggestions or comments for your presentation. You presentation is currently scheduled for Tue Nov 15 during 3:30PM - 5:00PM session. You will be assigned 15 minutes for presentation and questions. Although we'll do our best to keep this time slot, it's conceivable that we might need to change it as the rest of the program develops. Therefore, please keep monitoring for any program changes. The presentation room will be equipped with projector/screen and we expect that you will bring your own laptop for presentation. If you have any special A/V needs, please contact us IMMEDIATELY, and we will help you make the necessary arrangements. Please be aware that all Doctoral Research Showcase presenters must pay the SC11 technical program registration fee. Thank you very much in advance for helping to make SC11 a huge success.
